Androgenic alopecia, otherwise known as male pattern baldness, is a type of hormone therapy where testosterone, usually testosterone, is replaced with an enzyme called Minoxidil. This process of testosterone replacement therapy can be administered alone or in combination with Minoxidil. ART is frequently prescribed to treat the secondary effects of male pattern baldness caused by decreased testosterone.
There have been many studies aiming to demonstrate that low testosterone levels can result in increased hair shedding and receding hair line. As part of the research, scientists have been conducting studies to determine whether or not low testosterone levels can cause andropause, also known as menopause, and its effects on the female sexual functions. In women, the production of hormones such as estrogen and progesterone declines along with menopause and the decrease in these hormones may lead to reduced sexual drive and libido. Minoxidil was initially used to treat low testosterone levels that were thought to be associated with sexual dysfunction, but now it has been proven that this ingredient can also prevent hair loss in men with andropause.

The benefits of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy is that it can actually prevent further hair loss. While testosterone is responsible for the production of testosterone in men, a low level of testosterone can cause the body to produce too much cortisol, a hormone that is often responsible for hair loss. Research indicates that when cortisol is present in the body, testosterone production is affected. However, while this hormone is responsible for maintaining a healthy balance in the body, excessive cortisol levels may lead to excess body fat and lower muscle mass leading to reduced bone density. Since cortisol is associated with many diseases including diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis and high blood pressure, its use can be very harmful.

When men begin using testosterone replacement therapy, they are at risk for many of the same conditions as those who have low testosterone. These include developing hypertension, experiencing decreased sex drive and erectile dysfunction. In addition, gels containing testosterone can increase body fat and decrease in muscle mass, which can lead to lower bone density and increased risk of fractures. As mentioned above, testosterone therapy is primarily beneficial to men who are aging, and research has shown that even younger men can benefit from this form of treatment. The primary risks of these types of therapies are increased blood pressure, heart disease and decreased sex drive. While these are all problems that can be addressed with other forms of therapy, research indicates that these risks are present with testosterone gels.Click here to read about thee benefits of progesterone replacement therapy.

There are additional risks associated with testosterone replacement therapy that are not discussed here. It is known that some men experience allergic reactions when they start using these gels. Some men experience severe anaphylactic shock when exposed to large doses of testosterone. These side effects include shortness of breath, wheezing, chest pain, swelling of the throat or nose and shock at the thought of needles.

There are natural products available that will help you achieve healthy testosterone levels. These products include creams and lotions that can be used to help with sexual dysfunction and body building. They are made using natural ingredients, so they are safe to use and they do not carry any of the risks associated with testosterone replacement therapy. If you are concerned about the risks of these medications, make sure that you discuss these options with your doctor before you decide whether or not to pursue them.  Check out this related post to get more enlightened on the topic: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bioidentical_hormone_replacement_therapy.
